5 – How to get an IOM measured

>> Latest class rules <<

As this is an official recognised class any official measurer from SwissSailing can measure a boat, however, many measureres have little or no experience of those small boats and may not want to measure your boat.
MYCS – radiosailing.ch have official measurers who can measure your boat.

MYCS official measurers:

Hans Baumgartner (Zollikerberg, ZH)

Thomas Tochtermann (Muttenz, BL)

Measurement of your boat:

  1. The measuring procedure must be carried out on the official IOMICA measurement forms (download latest version here). A good idea is to have a few sets of the measurement forms printed and at hand at the occasion of the measurment of the boat.
  2. Prepare your boat and rigs for the measurement, make sure you have the tools to be able to remove the rudder and the keel. Here are the points that is often wrong in the measurements;
    1. too heavy keel > 2.5 kg (When you verify your weight at home, be sure to add a margin as most scales are not calibrated)
    2. too light boat > 4 kg (tested with all three rigs)
    3. missing deck limit mark
    4. missing or wrong size of the hull identification number
    5. wrong size or position of the sail identification
  3. Have your rigs ready, but not mounted. Sails can be mounted to the rigs, no need to removed them.
  4. When the measuring of the boat is carried out and everything is in order the measurer will sign and stamp the sails and fill in the measurment forms.
  5. The measurment forms should be send in original to the IOMSUI’s class registrar within four weeks after the measurment if you want to have a certificate.
