IOM racing is as exiting as racing our full sized fellow yachts. As our regattas is ISAF (International Sailing Federation) sanctioned we are using the same rules as for the Olympic classes, Volvo Ocean race and also as the America’s Cup. Most common race course today is as in full sized yachting the upwind-downwind race course. The start sequence is almost identical as for full sized yachts and the excitement during the start on the jetty is fantastic.
The racing is very demanding as everything seems to happen much quicker. The distance to the boats make it difficult to see and it is sometimes very hectic around the mark roundings. It is a demanding task for the judges and the arbitrary to judge the racing, maybe the most difficult of all sailracing.
