Status of 2012 European Continental Championship Regatta

IOM ICA regrets to announce that the 2012 European Continental Championship regatta, scheduled to be held in Malaga, Spain on October 30 to November 4, 2012, has been cancelled.
A number of factors are involved in this decision but the final determining factor has been physical changes to the site that are beyond the control of the host club and that have rendered the site unusable for our purposes.
Much effort by the NCA for ESP and the Host Club, Real Club Mediterráneo de Málaga (RCM), has gone into attempting to find an alternate location but to no avail.
The IOM ICA Events Sub Committee wishes to thank ESP for stepping forward to host this event.
The Events Sub Committee will accept proposal for alternate hosts for this event but, given the short time left in the year to organize such an event, those interested must be in contact with the Committee before the end of April.
If you have any questions, please route them through your NCA Representative to the IOM ICA Secretary.

Trim logbook for the IOM

To be able to keep track if your trim settings of your IOM we have made a trim logbook were you can note down your settings from time to time. It is in English but we are working on translations.

How to print and make the book:

  1. Download the pdf by click >>here<< or on the picture above
  2. Print only page 1, the cover
  3. Print page 2 as many A4 sheets as you like, then turn them over
  4. Print the backside as well, check for the right direction.
  5. Stack them and fold in the middle and fold the cover page around and staple it in the middle and you have a nice trim logbook
  6. If you want a “deluxe” version you can fold a transparent plastic sheet around as well. A nice finish is to sew the middle with a normal sewing machine instead of staples.

  49 participants from 4 nations took part in this classic IOM class regatta. Switzerland was represented by Enrico Ambrosi SUI 62 and Marco Signorelli SUI 80. Here all three rigs were used.

  49 Teilnehmer aus 4 Nationen nahmen an diesem Klassiker unter den IOM Regatten teil. Auch Enrico Ambrosi SUI 62 und Marco Signorelli SUI 80 waren dabei. Dabei kamen alle drei Riggs zum Einsatz.

  49 participants de 4 pays ont pris part à ce grand classique parmi les courses de class IOM. Même Enrico Ambrosi SUI 62 et Marco Signorelli SUI 80 étaient là. Ici, tous les trois gréements ont été utilisées.

NOTICE OF RACE / AUSCHREIBUNG / AVIS DE COURSE

1 – RULES / REGELN / REGLES

The Sailing Instructions (SI) shall prevail in the event of conflict with this Notice of Race. National prescriptions will not apply. If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.
Besteht einen Konflikt zwischen dieser Ausschreibung und den Segelanweisungen, gelten die Segelanweisungen. Nationale Vorschriften gelten nicht. Besteht ein Konflikt zwischen Sprachen gilt der englische Text.
Les Instructions de course prévaudra en cas de conflit avec le Avis de course. Aucune prescription nationale ne s’appliquera. En cas de conflit dans la traduction, le texte anglais prévaudra.

2 – ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY / TEILNAHMEBERECHTIGUNG UND MELDUNG / ADMISSIBILITÉ ET INSCRIPTION

The regatta is open to all boats of the IOM class. Eligible boats may enter by completing the online form posted below or by sending an e-mail to: Thomy Blatter. Entries must be received not later than the 31th of April 2012.
Die Regatta ist für alle Boote der Klasse IOM offen. Teilnahmeberechtigte Boote melden sich durch Ausfüllen des Online-Formulars unten oder ein e-mail an Thomy Blatter. Die Meldung müssen spätestens bis zum 31. April 2012 versandt werden.
Le régate est ouverte à tous les bateaux de la classe IOM. Les bateaux admissible peuvent s’inscrir en complétant le formulaire en ligne en dessous ou par e-mail a Thomy Blatter. Les inscriptions doivent être reçues au plus tard le 31 avril 2012.

No.3: Start – Beat – Run – Beat – (Run – Beat) – Finish. Leeward mark may be chosen freely. Multiple rounds will be announced.
No 1: Start – Kreuz – Vorwindkurs – Kreuz – (Vorwindkurs – Kreuz) – Ziel. Anzahl der Runden wird noch bekanntgegeben.
No 2: Start – Kreuz – Raumschotskurs – Raumschotskurs – Kreuz – Vorwindkurs – Kreuz – Ziel.
No.3: Start – Beat – Run – Beat – (Run – Beat) – Finish. Lee-Boje kann frei gewählt werden. Anzahl der Runden wird noch bekanntgegeben.
No 1: Départ – au prés – au portant – au prés – (au portant – au prés) – arrivé. Plusieurs tours seront annoncés.
No 2: Départ – au prés – au largue – au largue – au prés – au portant – au prés – arrivé.
No.3: Départ – au prés – au portant – au prés – (au portant – au prés) – arrivé. Marque sous le vent peut être choisi librement. Plusieurs tours seront annoncés.

7 – PENALTY SYSTEM / STRAFSYSTEM / SYSTÈME DE PÉNALITÉ

Rule 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.
Die Regel 44.1 ist geändert, so dass die Zwei-Drehungen-Strafe durch die Ein-Drehung-Strafe ersetzt wird.

8 – MEASUREMENTS / MESSUNGEN / JAUGE

International One Meter Class rules 2012. Each boat shall produce a valid IOMSUI class certificate. During the implementation of the new NCA (National Class Association) there are many boats with invalid certificates or non at all, however, we will invite and welcome everybody despite this fact and it will be a good moment to verify the status of the IOMs in Switzerland. It is of coarse advised that you as and owner make sure that your boat is class legal, if you are in doubt, please contact us.

9 – FREQUENCIES / QUARTZEN / FRÉQUENCES

The permitted frequency bands are 26, 27, 40 MHz and 2.4 GHz. Each competitor must have a minimum of 3 frequencies available except on 2.4 GHz.
Die zulässige Frequenzbänder sind 26, 27, 40 MHz und 2,4 GHz. Jeder Teilnehmer muss mindestens 3 Frequenzen zur Verfügung, außer auf 2,4 GHz.
Les bandes de fréquences autorisées sont 26, 27, 40 MHz et 2,4 GHz. Chaque participent doit avoir un minimum de 3 fréquences disponibles, sauf à 2,4 GHz.

10 – DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY / HAFTUNGSAUSSCHLUSS / DECHARGE DE RESPONSABILITÉ

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
Die Teilnehmer beteiligen sich an der Regatta gänzlich auf eigenes Risiko. Siehe Regel 4 – Teilnahme an der Wettfahrt. Der Veranstalter übernimmt keinerlei Haftung bei Materialschäden oder bei Verletzung oder im Todesfall von Personen, entstanden in Verbindung mit der Regatta und vor, während oder nach der Regatta.

Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance.
